Why do some tasks appear as solid bars on the calendar view and others have
dotted lines and just an outline? Can you make the bars that are dotted
lines, appear solid?

I think that my task got split somehow and that is why it is coming up with a
dotted line. How do I change it, it should not be split?

In response to your first question, the way that the tasks are described
on the Calendar View is related to the type of task they represent. For
example, an outline is generally a normal task. A summary line is
represented by a thin black line. Dotted lines normally represent a
task which has been split. These styles can be customised.

In response to your second question, you are probably right that the
task has been split. You then have to find out why that is. Common
reasons are:
1. Levelling has been applied with parameters that allow splitting.
2. The plan has been updated and work has been pushed into the future
which should have been completed by now.
3. There is a predecessor to the split task which should have completed
before the split task was started but work was started on the successor
task early and the application reschedules the remaining work to after
the predecessor task.
4. There are periods where work cannot be carried out on the task.

So, you should remove levelling from your split task. You should check
that there are no predecessors pushing work out into the future. Ensure
that there are no constraints pushing the work forward. You should then
be able to drag the split portions backwards in the Gantt view.
