Calendar will not stop syncing

Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Processor: Power PC
Email Client: Exchange

Entourage will not stop syncing with the Exchange server, using up my battery and processing power. I cannot find anything online to help. Anyone out there have any ideas???

This can happen if you have a very large number of items to sync,
especially in the inbox. Can you leave it overnight to finish the
process unmolested? You may also want to consider resetting the cache
and letting it do a new sync once.
