Calendar won't take new entries

matyear

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger)

My calendar won't work. Every time I try to enter an appointment, it shows the day but not the year and it tells me that the date is in the past. If I try to enter 2008, it reverts to some weird date. The little calendar icon, when you open it, always shows 1970. As it is right now, the calendar is worse than useless. I just upgraded to this version of MS Office, by the way.

First, let's be sure you are fully updated to Office 2008. Under Entourage
in the Menu bar, select About Entourage. You should see 12.1.4. If not, then
select Check for Updates under Help and download the required updaters.

If you are updated.....

Let's eliminate your Identity first.... Under Entourage in the Menu bar
select Switch Identity and create a new test Identity (no need to enter
account info for this test). Try entering an appointment. Does it work? If
yes, then it's your Identity and you will need to:

1) rebuild your database
2) create a new Identity

If you rebuild, make a copy in the Finder first. If the rebuild does not
help, you will need to start over in a new Identity. See this link for
moving into a new Identity.

How to manually move your data. (when import fails and/or you need to move
to a new Identity same version or revert to an older version)

If the problem existed in a new Identity, then you need to test in a new
User account. Go to System Preferences --> Create a New User in Accounts.
Switch to the New User by logging out/in or use Fast User Switching. Test
there.

If the problem goes away, then it's a problem in your User's folder, if not
then it's a system wide problem.

1) You might need to download the combo updater from Apple and run it again
rather than using Software Update. Doing so overwrites potentially
problem-causing files. Combo updaters will install on the same version as
they¹re applying‹no need to roll back or do a clean install.

Let me know the results of your tests.

If the mini calendar in the lower left corner is showing your year as
1970 then your computer's clock may be set incorrectly.

Quit Entourage and then check Apple menu --> System Preferences... -->
Date & Time. Verify your date and time are correct as well as your time
zone. If possible enable time syncing to keep your Mac synced.

If the date and time are correct then the next time you launch Entourage
should correct the date it shows.

Hope this helps!

I have the same issue as matyear. I created the new user account and the problem is gone. So I guess that tells me there is something wrong in my User Account. What do I need to do to remedy this?

Thank you very much.
