Calendar (Works 7.0) won't open

I backed up my calendar files yesterday (doing so monthly for several
yrs)--when I tried to open app today got "works cannot access one or more
files it needs to run the calendar..." It suggested reinstalling Works which
I did, but I still get the same error message. Any suggestions (other than
buying Works 8.0)
