Calendar

hi all
i changed the general working times as follows
7h30 to 11h30 and 12h00 to 16h00 = 8 hours, from Monday to Frida
when i open the wizard to define the project calendar, MSproject shows this information correctly
however, when i copy and a paste a task duration to Excel, the information is not correct
for example
a duration of 0,5d for a task that starts in the morning, is represented in Excel from 8h00 to 12h30 instead of 7h30 to 11h30
a duration of 0,5d for a task that stars in the afternoon, is represented in Excel from 12h30 to 8h00 the next day instead of 12h00 to 16h00

when i use the default, i.e. 8h00 to 12h00 and 13h00 to 17h00 = 8 hours, the information represented in excel is correctly
a duration of 0,5d for a task that starts in the morning, is represented in Excel from 8h00 to 12h00
a duration of 0,5d for a task that stars in the afternoon, is represented in Excel from 13h00 to 17h00

however, i would like to implement the working time from 7h30 to 11h30 and from 12h00 to 16h00

could somebody help me solve this problem

thank you
and
ps: i'm a beginner

read elsewhere in the thread that MSproject does not cope with modifications to the base calendar when tasks are already introduced
does this mean i have to start a new file, perpare the calendar and import the tasks from my previous project into this new file?

Hi Andy,

Welcome to this Microsoft Project newsgroup :)

You might like to see FAQ Item: 5. Default Working Hours. Note that you
might have to re-enter the durations of tasks already entered.

FAQs, companion products and other useful Project information can be seen at
this web address: http://www.mvps.org/project/

Hope this helps - please let us know how you get on :)

I don't seem to have any problem. Here's what I did:

1. Tools | Options | View-tab and set the date format to include the time.

2. Tools | Options | Calendar-tab. I set the default start time (7:30AM),
default end time (4:30pm), clicked on the "Set as default button" and
clicked on OK.

3. Tools | Change Working Time and set up a calendar with the 7:30-11:30,
12:00-4:30 interval you used.

4. I entered some tasks (including some half-day tasks). They displayed
correctly in Project.

5. I copied the tasks (name, duration, start finish) to an Excel
spreadsheet. All information appears correctly.

In the Tools Options View menu select a date format that shows you the
times. Double check the time in the Project Start Date entry in the Project
Information menu item. If you change your working time hours to start the
day at 07:30 but leave the Project Start Date at the default [date] 8am,
tasks will be offset from the start of your workday by 30 minutes. With
your 07:30 - 11:30 and 12:00-16:00, unless you explicitly change the
project start time to 07:30 you'll find a 1 day task on a project beginning
tomorrow will start Mon at 8am, finish Tues at 8am, a successor task linked
from it FS will start Tues at 8, and so forth. The project start time will
only default to 07:30 if you A)on the calendar options page set default
start to 07:30, default end to 16:00, and then B) click the "Set As Default"
button. The Project Start date then on subsequent projects will show 07:30
instead of 08:00.

PS - please use standard, old-fashioned, sentence capitalization and
punctuation. I know it's "kewl" to not bother with such things online but
ignoring it makes messages awfully difficult to read.
