Call a query from a module that has a use function in it?

It appears that my query that has a user-defined function in it will not
work when that query is run from code.

The query will not run when it is called from a procedure, nor can I run it
manually in the user interface if I try to run it during a break in the
code. Once I stop the code, and exit from the module, the query runs fine.

Is there a way around this?
