Calling Word in Access app causes Word not responding

Did anyone come across any performance degrading when
openning a Word macro template in Access 97 application
slows Word in big time. Basically the problem is that
Word temporarily stops responding on loading, typing,
saving, printing and exiting (all you can name it). It
can take up to minutes before Word is active again.

Any help is appreciated.

There are number of things you can do to prevent problems
when you let "word" and ms-access interact with each other

In fact, the best solution to minimize the interaction between
the two.

Check out my sample word download, and read ALL OF the notes
in the word merge. I have a working sample, and you can
give it a try to see if it solves your troubles (it likely
will).

There is also a know issue with virus software that has come
up lately that will cause word to not respond.

You might want to check that issue also.

Albert, thanks for your suggestions and your sample
application. I tried it but Word was not coming up any
faster than before. I think my problem is not only in
Access but in the overall machine configuration, HW/SW
related. The slowness is typically worse via a terminal
services workstation.
I already turn off all the realtime anti virus scanning
to my app folders and the dot extension though it makes
slight difference.
ps. My server where my Access application, MS Office and
the terminal services are installed has dual processors
at 1.2GHz + 60G HD + 1024M RAM. Hope someone else can
help me out here.
Thanks
