Calndar Sharing Limits

Is there a way to share my calendar availability without providing details of
my appointments?

I use the free/busy/out of office tags, but I do not necessarliy need
everyone to know why I am busy of out of the office.

Outlook 2003, Windows XP

Also, is there a decent place to look up calendaring basics? e.g. what each
setting in the access actually does?

a.. Author -- Create, read, modify, and delete own items and files.
b.. Contributor -- Create items and files. This allows users to drop
items in a folder but not read them after they are dropped.
c.. Custom -- Any combination of permissions.
d.. Editor -- Create, read, modify, and delete all items and files.
e.. Non-editing Author -- Create and read items, delete own items.
f.. Owner -- Create, read, modify, and delete all items and files; create
subfolders; set permissions for other people to access the folder.
g.. Publishing Author -- Create and read items; modify and delete own
items, create subfolders.
h.. Publishing Editor -- Create, read, modify, and delete all items and
fields; create subfolders.
i.. Reviewer -- Read items.
Basically if you give them permission, they can read the content of your
meetings. With NO permissions, they just see if you are Free/Busy?Out of
Office.

So there is no method to just show my availability without the content?
Kinda like showing everything as private?

entering it?

No permission will show free/busy status but nothing more .

Make one private, group by private field and drag the others to the Yes
group. to set all new appts private, create a custom form with the private
field checked.
