I have installed IIS 5.1 on my XP Pro development machine (named felix) as a
test server. I have also installed FPSE 2002. It seems to have installed
successfully. IE can open the localstart.asp page that is automatically
installed with IIS. FP cannot publish to the site, however. FP is “unable
to open ‘http://felix’ Possible reasons include 1. FPSE not installed; 2. Web
server not working, 3. Proxy problems. 4. Error on the web server.†I have
ruled out 2 thru 4, so I am trying to figure out how to straighten out FPSE.
I have three FPSE symptoms that may provide clues:
- IIS MMC Check Server Extensions 2002 for the Default Web Site gives me a
“not authorized†message for
http://felix/_vti_bin/_vti_adm/fpadmdll.dll?page=health.htm.
- IIS MMC also tells me that I am “not authorized†to see
http://felix/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll?page=genset.htm&port=/LM/W3SVC/1 when I
look at the Default Web Site/Properties/Server Extensions 2002/ Settings.
- Administrative Tools/SharePoint Administrator also tells me that I am “not
authorized†to see http://felix/_sharepoint/fpadmdll.dll.
This seems like a permissions problem, but I don’t know how to fix it. Any
ideas?
Thanks!
