Can 2003 Standard edit 2003 Pro files?

I'm looking for information regarding the compatability between 2003 Standard
and Pro. Here's my scenario: we run 2003 Pro and Server connecting via RD
(Remote Desktop) (for many reasons) and are not allowing anyone to have the
2003 Pro client installed on their desktops. However, we sometimes have the
need to take plans offline for a while. Because of cost, I've been told to
find out if we can use 2003 Standard while working offline instead of 2003
Pro. We would use Pro via RD to bring the plan off/on-line. What I do not
know is if or how Standard handles global templates and everything else that
would be in the plan from the Pro side. I know that Standard cannot talk to
the server and that will help us enforce the use of RD. I appreciate any
help or suggestions you might have.

Hi,

Offline there is no difference at all between pro and standard.
Go ahead.

As far as I know you can open the files in either edition without any
problem. But when it's open in Standard you won't have access to any of the
enterprise features and tools. Indeed, the enterprise tools in Pro don't
even exist in the menus and toolbars of Standard

Thanks for the information Steve. If anyone else has any input, please let
me know.
