Can a database name expand to include new data.

I'd like to name a database range, and use that name in formulae and
pivot table reports. Is there some way to make the range that the name
refers to expand automatically when new data are added? I've tried
using a list name (from the list manager), but worksheet formulae
apparently will not accept a list name.

For example, I have a database of rainfall for each day. The data range
is named "Rainfall". I use database summary functions to analyze these
data; in the function, I use "Rainfall" rather than cell references to
refer to the data. Each day, when I add a new line to the database, I
have to re-define "Rainfall" to refer to the expanded range. Is there a
way of automatically doing this? I had hoped that by using the List
Manager, which has a name for the list, I could do this, but the List
Name is not accepted as a reference by the summary functions.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
