Can a field in a table be the default value of another field?

I created a table with a field name of Start Date.

There are a number of queries and html pages set to get the data in that
field.

I want to create another field in the same table called StartDate without
the space and have it equal the value in the Start Date field. This will
buy me time will I fix all of the pages and queries.

Is this possible?

I tried entering = Start Date in the default value of StartDate which
returned = "Start Date"

It's not possible unless you're using a form.
