Can a Mac document be pulled up and converted into microsoft word

M

Monica

My son started his homework at school on a Mac machine, then brought the file
home on a flash drive. But I have a HPackard with microsoft word 2007 loaded
so we can't open the Mac file. Is there a way to open the Mac file in order
for him to complete his homework? Yes, it's late and it's due tomorrow!!!
But surely there are parents out there who can relate to this type of late
night dilemna. . .

Hi Monica,

In general, Word for Windows should be able to open a Word:mac document.
First step would be to copy it to the hard drive rather than try to open it on the removable/flash drive.

In Word 2007 use
Office Button=>Word Options=>Advanced
and scroll down to the 'General' section and turn on the
[x] Confirm file format conversion on open

Then use File=>Open in Word to open the document and see what file type Word thinks its opening.

Can we assume this document was created in the Mac version of Word?
