Can a Word expert help me with this strange problem

Have just installed Office 97 word in Xp, and its behaivng like its in
98.

Word only opens one tag in Talk bar, there's only one icon in Alt Tab,
so I can't flick between open Word files.

This is how Word used to be in 95-98.

I have tried re-installing, I've searched the settings, I cannot
understand why this is happening.
I'd like to be able to open a few Word files, then go between them.

I also find that Alt F4 closes all Word files, whereas it only used to
close the Word file that was open.

Any help much appreciated.

Thanks

Perhaps you have Group Similar Taskbar buttons on? R-click Taskbar,
Properties, Taskbar, and UNcheck it.

Its not that.. I know what you mean..

I can't get Word to display seperate Word files in Alt Tab as well.

Thanks

Installing Word 97 on a different Windows version will not change its
behavior. If you want one taskbar button for each open window, you have
to use a version which supports that.

The migration to a Single Document Interface (SDI) did not take place
until Office 2000. Word 97 uses a Multiple Document Interface (MDI) so
you're not overlooking anything - that's how it is suppose to work.
