Can Access 97 read an XP System mdw file ?

Hi,


Please help.
Can Access 97 read a system.mdw created in Access 2002?
I have created a workgroup file in 2002. All of the users
are not using XP yet, so the app has to be created in
97. I don't want to have to recreate all of the groups
and users.

Simply continue using the .mdw file created in Access 97. Users on all
levels of Access from A97 above will be able to use it.

IOW yes - you will have to recreate all the users & groups in a 97 format
workgroup file.

Which leads to the question: what about the Admins group? The existing
database will not recognize the Admins group of the new 97-format workgroup
file, as being the Admins group of the workgroup file >which was used to
create the database<. So I think you may have some problems there.
Personally I'd be tempted to create the new 97-format workgroup file, then
create a new database off that workgroup file, then import all the database
objects & secure it again.
