Can Access database be converted to a web based database?

I have an Access database, that the users are asking for certain things to
be implemented into that make me wonder if it makes sense to try and convert
it to an online type of database.

For example they want to be able to link to pictures, maps etc which I am
not sure how to carry out inside an Access form. They have also talked about
being able to remotely access the database.

If I were to convert to an online app how difficult would this task be?
