can an existing excel spreadsheet be exported into Project

Our department has an existing spreadsheet for project tasks, etc. We re
going to now use Project 2003 and wanted to know if the existing excel 2002
spreadsheet be exported into project 2003?

Shouldn't be a problem.

Just use the File > Open function in MS Project, and select .xls documents
in the drop down for file types. This will launch the Project Import Wizard
which is fairly self-explanatory.

The only thing you will have to be aware of is the issue of mapping. Project
Import Wizard will ask you to map the columns in Excel to the fields in Project.
It's not too hard, but might require some work if you have a lot of custom
information in the XLS file. You can save the map as a standard if you plan
to do this kind of importing often.
