Can anyone help?

I am using Outlook 2002 Windows Professional on a
computer I just inherited at work and am having
diffuculty setting things up to send and receive email.
I typed all of the necessary information into the account
settings (under Tools) and it will not allow me to send
or receive email. A message keeps popping up that
reads "A TCP/IP error occurred while trying to connect to
the server." Does anyone know how to fix?
