Can Deleted Items be archived?

My boss is trying to archive his Deleted Items folder. After the requisite
finger waving telling him he should NEVER rely on the Deleted Items folder
for any historic purpose, he is adamant that he will use it (another
opportunity for a "I told you so" moment).



I don't believe that folder can be archive. Can someone confirm (and
vindicate me!)?

One of my clients uses the same method, much to my encouragement not to.
To answer your question, I am able to archive deleted items using Outlook 2007 on Windows XP.
