Can get contact up on outgoing email

B

Bill Dixon

I recently reinstalled Outlook 2000. When I try and use
the address book through the To: function I get the
following error message "the address book could not be
displayed. the contacts folder associated with this
address book could not be opened; it may have been moved
or deleted, or you do not have permission....see help to
fix" I hit OK and the select names comes up, in the right
corner is a drop down menu with "contacts" displayed. I
drop it down and a second "contacts" (under Outlook
address book) is displayed. when a change it to that one,
I get my contacts back. Problem is I have to do this
every time. I have tried the following
file.folder.properties for contacts.outlook address
book.and unchecking the "show this folder as an email
address book"....but this only removes the "good"
contacts. When i go back the bad/blank one is still
there. How do I get rid of the bad one and keep the good
one.

Thanks

The easiest way to get rid of the bad one may be to remove the Outlook
Address Book service, restart Outlook, then add the Outlook Address Book
service back in.

Thanks....can you give me exact directions on how to
remove it? I tried the file/folder/properties for
contacts/outlook address book and unchecking the show
this folder as an address book. The contacts that I was
trying to remove is still there without a method of
removing it. Please be as specific as possible.
