Can I add a technical dictionary (.lexicon) in Word 2008

Mahi

I need an urgent help. I have one technical file in .lexicon file
format, which I used to install in earlier office version (up to 2002)
and use to spell check these technical terms.

I want to use same .lexicon file to be used in Office 2008, I tried
copying the my lexicon file in proofing tool folder (Microsoft office
2008-->Office-->Shared tools--> proofing Tools) but I am still not
able to spell check word against my custom dictionary (.lexicon).

Can any one suggest, what I can do to use this lexicon file ( I was
using it the same in Mac Word 2002)

Hi Mahesh:

I am sorry, I do not recognise the .lexicon format.

Word 2008 is expecting custom dictionaries to be in text format (ANSI).

Your custom dictionary is here:
/Users/~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/

It is named "Custom Dictionary" and has no extension.

The format is a plain text file, one word per line.

You can make your Lexicon file into a file like that, and either paste the
contents into the existing Custom Dictionary, or place it in that folder.

If you make a new file, Word will then enable you to add it to your list of
custom dictionaries.

You can then use it as or in addition to your other custom dictionary.

Hope this helps
