can I add the size of an object in powerpoint as text in my draw?

Using office 2003-SP3, I'm creating a drawing with lines, boxes etc.
When using a box, you can add text in it. The object itself has a certain
size,
say 2x2 inches. When I want to know the size of that object for sure, I need
to doubleclick on that object and click the tab 'size'.

Is there a way to add the size (height and /or width) to the text in that box,
which gets updated when I change the size??

Just in case you are considering an upgrade to 2007. In this version you can
leave the size / position dialogue open and get "real time updates"
