is there a way to put some kind of demarcation around my text automatically?
so i can create little boxes of text to help visually seperate different
ideas on a single page?

Tools | Options | Display has a setting for "Show note containers on page."
It's normally on, but sounds like it may be off on your machine.

That draws a box around the active box on the page - give it a try and see
if it helps.

As a longshot, you may want to look at table support. It always draws the
lines.

thanks for the reply, but this option is on... but i think i was not clear in
my question...

i want the boxes to surround the text permanently... i want it to create
visual box so that different blocks of text are graphically demarcated on the
page...

i can do this manually with the drawing tools, but that box won't resize
along with the text... i was kind of hoping that i could have the text
automatically boxed...

I think the only way you could do this is by using the table command with
the show borders in the Table menu system.
I don't think you can change the default line size either with this work
around.
