Can i change master text effects?

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard) Processor: Intel I have created a presentation and want to override the master template text effects on some pages (if you add an effect it adds it to the existing master effect). In the PC version of PP it seems that you can 'copy effects to slide' so they are editable. Can you do this in the mac version?
