Can I change the size and color of my "insertion point" I-beam?

My slide master is formatted in a color that makes seeing the "insertion
point" a visual nightmare. Surely, I can change this ... and perhaps even
Microsoft could "auto-format" into a complementary color to the existing
background.

A question and a thought ...
