Can I combine two data lists?

I have two data files (addresses) for a customer that I
need to combine into one master file. The fields are
identical. But I'm not sure I found the right
instructions. I'm looking at "Combine lists into one
list," but this appears to be about combining text. I
need to combine two files. Help!

I'm a beginning Word (and even Windows pretty much) user.
I recently converted from WordPerfect for DOS. So I don't
know how to "copy and paste" one .mdb file into another.
I can't call them up into Word because they look like
garbage. And I tried copying and pasting the files in
Windows Explorer, with no luck. Can you talk me through
this? Thanks!

MDB files are Access data files - not Word, so it was reasonable to suppose
that you were asking about Word data files in your question. Word data files
could be combined by copy and paste methods. With Access data, you probably
need to open one file in Access and import the second data file into the
first.

Run a catalog or directory type mailmerge from each list with the mailmerge
fields in the main document being in the cells of a single row table. This
will give you two documents, each containing a table populated with all of
the data. You can then select and copy one table and paste it into the
table in the other document, then insert a row at the beginning of the table
and insert the field names into that row. You can then save and use this
document as the datasource.

Ahh, interesting...So when I use Mail Merge Wizard in
Word, it actually creates an Access data file? I don't
have Access, or Microsoft Office suite--I only have Word
at this point. So does that mean I'll be somewhat
hampered in how I can manipulate the data file if I don't
get Access?
