can I create a text box that is L shaped?

Is it possible, in Publisher 2003, to create a text box that has a 90 degree
leg to it? That is, an L shaped text box? Presently, I'm trying to flow
color through two boxes (that are set next to each other in an L shaped
configuration) and have it look as if the color is one continous flow through
both boxes. This would not be a problem if I were using a solid color -
instead I want to use a gradient/shadow look. Any ideas?

Create a rectangle, fill white, no line, bring to the front of the text box. The
gradient will still work in the text box. If you give the rectangle no fill you will
see the entire text box gradient and maintain the "L" shape.
