Can I create an appointment using contact information in Outlook?

I mostly use outlook calendar for very basic scheduling for my family -
doctors appointments, piano lessons, etc. It would seem I should be able to
go into the calendar and input an appointment with a doctor, for example, who
is in my contacts. The only information that interests me is
name/address/phone (and maybe category) - i have no need to send him or
anyone an email - i simply want his name displayed as my subject, and his
phone/address automatically carried over from contacts, so i don't have to
look up and input those things every time. And wouldn't it be great if the
category i assign him in contacts ("Medical" - colored green) would also
carry over and show up on my calendar?

At the very least, if i could COPY a previous appointment with the guy (I
know i could drag and MOVE it, but i want the history in tact), then his
information wouldn't need to be re-input...

Most everything i've tried requires so many interim steps to get SORT OF
what i want, that the alternative is much simpler at this point.

As a partial answer to your post, concerning the copying of appts, you can
right-click and drag an appt to a new date, and when you let go of the
mouse's right button, a small menu will appear with Move, Copy and Cancel. I
have never tried this with recurring appts, so I don't know what effect this
would have.

If you are not too familiar with the mouse's right button, please check it
out... right click over different areas of a program and often you can
discover handy functions, besides the right-click-drag-and-drop which also
works in the Contacts list, e-mails, and Windows Explorer among others.

I have also looked into the possibility of automatically copying pertinent
info when one chooses "New appointment with contact...", to no avail. Let's
hope that since my last search someone has come up with a solution for
Office XP (2002)
