Can I extract a dictionary etc. from .msi file for use with Office 2004

A spellchecker has been produced for the Windows version of Office (for
the Scots Gaelic language). Apparently Microsoft provided a search
engine to help in its production by The European Language Initiative
(TELI). I was told in reply to an e-mail that the Mac version would be
produced eventually. A second e-mail requesting a release date for the
Mac files has yet to be answered.

I can download the spellchecker file (a .msi file) from
http://www.ltscotland.org.uk/gaidhlig/gaelicspelleng.asp

Is there some way I can extract the dictionary for use with WORD and
begin using it on my Mac?
(PBook G4 / 640M / OS 10.4.6 / Office 2004)
I suspect the answer is "no" - but no harm in asking.

Hi Eòin:

"No" :)

An .msi is a relational database contained in a structured file storage.
There are tools available via MSDN that will get them open.

However, I think you will find that the meaningful bit of the content in
this case is a binary file that won't run in Mac Word. For reasons of
operational speed Word spelling checkers are compiled binaries that are
platform dependant.

Sorry :)
