can I extract emails from old PST file?

Hello,

I'm trying to help a friend transfer a few hundred archived emails from
an Outlook 2003 installation to an outlook express installation on
another computer.

I've transferred the outlook mail data (main one seems to be a large PST
file) over to the laptop, but OE6 does not read or import this PST file.

Does anyone know of a shareware or freeware utility that might help me
recover these emails, hopefully in a form that I can import into OE6
....?

thanks for any advice or inspiration.

The answer is to import the mails in Outlook Express on the old computer and
then transfer the OE files....have a look here:

I was able to transfer my Outlook messages to my laptop OK by copying the
pst file across and after ensuring that it would open in Outlook on the
laptop, then opened Outlook Express and on the File menu, select import
messages from Outlook.

Which will work just fine, the key point is that wherever the conversion is
to take place, both Outlook and Outlook Express must be installed and
functional. The import/export functions of each application require
components of the other application (OE needs Outlook components for it's
import/export features to work and Outlook needs OE components for the same
reason).

Very useful as I tried it also without success. Didn't know you need the two
softs. I put the mails on a DVD and copied them into another PC with outlook
and then send them to my address in outlook express. It is a way to solve the
problem.
