Can I get font sizes larger that 72 pts.?

Why is it that Office 2003 does not allow me to use a font size larger that
72 pts? Apple has font sizes that are over 200 pts., and even OpenOfice has
font sizes up to 96 pts. I need the larger fonts for Word and Publisher
(2003). Any one have any suggestions or clues?

This works in Publisher 2000.

In the font size box, type in any number you wish; I've gone above 100
many times.

Works for me in 2007 also...

I select the text / enter the number / press enter.

I can fill a page with a single letter at around 900.

If I go to 1000...I get a dialog box that states:

"Enter a number that is between 0.5 and 999.9"

And remember to hit Enter afterwards.

Works in almost any application ever.

As many have said, all you have to do is click in the font
size box and type in the number of the size desired and then
hit enter key. The font sizes shown are only "commonly
used" font sizes for most jobs. My Word (2003 & 97) will
use any font size from 1 point to 1638 points in 0.5 point
increments. PowerPoint 2003 will handle point sizes from 1
to 4000 points in 1 point increments. I have one publishing
program that will allow me to size points down to the 0.01
level, from 0.01 to 9000 but only has about 18 preselected
font sizes in the program's dropdown.
