can I group a picture with a text box?

Hi. I have a picture and 2 textboxes that I want to group together so
that my client cannot move them independently when he starts tinkering.
I select each item, but when I go to the "group" options everything is
grayed out. Any suggestions? Thanks.

Hi,

Turn on the drawing toolbar (if it is not already visible) by going to the
View menu and choose Toolbars > Drawing to toggle the toolbar on and off.

On the drawing toolbar here is an arrow that is a selection tool. Click that
arrow tool then drag across the screen to select several objects at once.
Then right click or control-click on one of them and choose Group from the
pop-up menu.

If either of the text boxes is a text placeholder, you can't group them.
PowerPOint doesn't allow you to include placeholders in groups.

Thanks, Steve. I found the problem late last night - it was indeed a
place holder. When I started just inserting normal text boxes it
worked fine. Thanks for confirming that I'm not crazy (or only
slightly so).

You just haven't been using PowerPoint long enough. Another year or two and
you'll earn your tinfoil helmet and wings. <g>

But at least this time we're not seeing symptoms.
