can I have an different areas of same page with different properties?

I'm working on a page of construction details and would like to draw
some details at a larger scale than the rest of the page. Is there any
way to do this? Like some sort of a box that's on a 1/4" = 1' scale
while the rest of the page is on 1/8"?

Not on same page but you can get the same effect by using a background with
different scale to "show thru" so appears to be on same page

Nice idea.

Since a page can only have only one background page, but all pages can have
a background page, you can create a layer effect by attaching a background
page to the background page. Need more? then attach another background page
to the new background page. etc.
