Can I hide some appointments on a shared caledar folder

Is there a way to hide some of your appointments when you share you calendar folder with other people in Outlook 2000. I would like to hide certain calendar item so they don't show up when those people view my private caledar. I can check the private box on the item, but they still show up when other view my caledar as "Private Appointment". I do not want them to display at all when they view my calendar.
