Can I insert a programmable button into a OneNote 2007 Page ?

Scenario

I have started making a TODO list in OneNote.
Sometimes I want things done like "right now".
I want to be able to "BEEP"/ALERT my secretary's computer when I enter
something.

As it is ... she has to LOOK at the right page in OneNote to see I
want her to do something.

What I want is a "programmable button" in OneNote that will enable me
to "perform actions".

In this case I want a [BEEP my secretary button] so I can alert her to
do something right now.

Doable ?

Easy ?

Descapa powertoy ?

:)

Phone!

There's no way currently to do what I think you're describing. Is your
concern that your secretary won't see the content you entered until
<insert date far into the future>, or that she won't know that she's
supposed to act on it right away? Or are you just thinking that the
entry you made will not be noticeable enough among all your other recent
changes? Do you want to just notify someone that something's changed, or
potentially have OneNote perform some other more complex action (like
maybe fire up a database and automatically log some entries in it)?

Not an option.
She is usually on it.

Yes. That is the problem.
I want to
(1) make sure her OneNote is updated (which is usually quite quickly)
with the changes I made.
(2) Have her computer beep or do something to alert her to look.

.... something more complex would be great but I want to know that
OneNote could do *anything* interactively first !

It's called SMS!

That's not the type of integration needed.
That is some sort of Messenger Text Dump from Messenger to OneNote.

I want to popup a message on another user's computer, or I want, let's
say to run a script from a OneNote page.

That's the interactivity I need.

Or perhaps an instant messaging application....

Well, that is exactly what I want, but I want to click a button on a
OneNote page to perform this function.
I want my secretary to know what I have changed on a very specific
OneNote page. I realize the pages will likely synch in 10-30 seconds,
but she won't know which page I changed.

It is a list of TODOs and I want her to DO IT and then type (done)
when she did it.

I *DO NOT* want to Open up an IM program.

Is there no ability to add a button to OneNote that'll accomplish
something ? Can I embed a visual basic script in OneNote ?

Could you not have one page on one notebook that is decided upon for
your secretary to check as the current task list. She can keep this
page open in a separate instance of OneNote (as could you), and look to
it throughout the day as it automatically updates. AS it updates, she
uses another instance of OneNote to make the changes to the other
notebooks as required (which you get as it syncs).

As she does the tasks she will mark or archive the list of the current
task as required. You get this information as it syncs, so you know you
can go now go look/use/refer to the updated information in the other
instance of OneNote. She could even make a note as to status on the
current list as required so that you will know where everything stands
at a glance.

I would think that is more flexible than a button... at least for my uses.

I already have that. I have 3 PCs synching our TODO section. They
synch quite quickly, it really only takes 15-30 seconds.
The thing is I want it to be instantaneous. and I want to be able to
point my secretary to a specific section.

Any quicker response is out of the range of the sync mechanism, and I
would suspect out of range with page updates of remote links as well.
It seems that you need another method of notification outside of
OneNote's mechanics.

Yes, I need a programmable button written in vbscript that would
trigger a messaging program. I suspect MS wants me to use MS
communicator.

Microsoft Office Communicator 2007 product overview

Office Communicator 2007 is a unified communications client that helps
people be more productive by enabling them to communicate easily with
others in different locations or time zones using a range of different
communication options, including instant messaging (IM), voice, and
video. Integration with programs across the 2007 Microsoft Office
system-including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, ***>>>>OneNote<<<<***,
Groove, and SharePoint Server-gives information workers many different
ways to communicate with each other via a consistent and simple user
experience.

Q: Does anyone know the OneNote capabilities here ?

Well, for pointing to a specific section a note on the current page
might do the trick.

15-30 seconds is too much of a delay? Heck with this conversation,
where did you find such a great secretary? :)
