Can I install Office 2007 apps (Word, Excel, etc) by themselves?

Hi,

We're considering a rollout of Excel 2007 to 10,000+ users who currently
have Office 2003 installed. We need to know a) can we get Excel 2007 in a
standalone version and b) will it cause problems to use Excel 2007 in
conjunction with the 2003 versions of the other products (Word in particular)?

As this is very poorly documented on the Microsoft site (I can tell they
would prefer their users upgrade everything en masse from 2003 to 2007,
regardless of the consequences) I would really appreciate any suggestions,
clarifications, or links to additional resources. Thanks!!
