Can I install Office XP Pro over Office 2000 small business

I just got new hard drive and Office 2000 disk was
accidentally installed instead of Office XP
Professional. This was over 2 weeks ago and I just
discovered it.

Can I install XP on top of 2000 or must I uninstall
2000? If I have to uninstall, what will be lost and what
must I save separately on the backup drive?
