The approach I use is to enter that kind of information in the Group field
for each resource in the Enterprise Resource Pool. The Group field is very
flexible, and can be populated based on a company's resource management
needs. I generally recommend that the Group field be populated with team,
department, or skill information. Then, when I am ready to assign resources
to tasks, I do the following:
1. Click the Assign Resources button
2. Select the tasks to which the group of resources will be assigned
3. In the Assign Resources dialog, click the + button to the left of the
Resource list options to expand the Filter by options
4. Select the first checkbox in the Filter by section, click the Filter by
drop-down list, and then select the Group... filter
5. Type the name of the group you wish to assign and click OK
6. Select the resources shown in the dialog after applying the filter
7. Click the Assign button
Do know, however, that this method will assign each resource at the Units
value specified in the Max. Units field for each resource in the Resource
Sheet view. If you wish to assign the resources each with a different Units
value, then this approach will not work for you. Hope this helps.
