Can I make the contents of a cell private in Project?

We need to include some sensitive information in a project plan, but we'd
like to hide the contents of the fields and keep them hidden with some type
of password protection. Is this possible?

John,
The simple answer is unfortunately, "no". Your best bet is to either not
put the sensitive info into the plan or keep a separate copy of the plan
for your use and another without the sensitive info for general use.

The more technically complex way is to keep the sensitive data (EG Resource
rates) in a database then use VBA to read the data into your schedule, print
required reports, then run another macro to delete all sensitive data. As
John says, out of the box there is no way.

John (MVP) is correct. You can't lock cells in MSP as you can in Excel. We
have a used a "kluge" to hold confidential information in an mpp file,
however. We create a dummy a macro, insert the confidential info as comments
within the macro, and then turn on password protection for the macro. The
information is stored with the MSP schedule but cannot be accessed without
the password. Maybe that'll help in your situation.

Look at it this way - people not sufficiently high in the organization to be
entitled to see the confidential information you're wanting to secure aren't
in a high enough pay grade to be allowed access to the original mpp file in
the first place. Give 'em reports with the information they need but don't
let them have access to the project plan itself.
