Can I measure taks progress by volume completed instead of time?

Tomas

Hi
I need to track the progressof the tasks based on the volume completed
instead of time used. It' s a matter of productivity, the time can be
consumed and still could be work to complete. Can I do that with Project
directly in Project or I have to "translate" the volume in hours in excel and
them input the data in Project?

Thanks

Hi Tomas

MS Project does provide the option to track progress in terms of volume.
You will have to track progress in terms of duration or work.

You will want to use the "Physical % Complete" method of Earned Value.
CVhange the EV Method of all tasks to Physical%Complete, and set new tasks
to use this method as well. You can do that under
Tools/Options/Calculations. Click the Earned Value Button and change it to
Physical%Complete.

In order for this to roll up properl;y, you will need costed resources
assigned and a baseline.

Also remember to change the bar style formats (Format/Bar Styles). Change
the progress lines from "Complete Through" to "Physical%Complete"

Hi

'Physical percentage complete' is used when speed of doing the work in
activities is not uniform. So, in this case also remember to correctly give
information about 'Actual duration' and 'Remaining duration'.

I hope it helps
