Can I produce Pop up fields or images like HyperStudio

I am a former user of HyperCard and HyperStudio. I was able to create buttons
which would present text boxes or images in a Pop up fashion on the current
slide. Does PPT have anything similar to this?
I know I can go to another slide but was wondering how I might do this on
one slice.

Welcome to PowerPoint. Hypercard was fantastic in its day, and
HyperStudio would have been great if it weren't so buggy. I used to
teach both. You might want to mention which version of PowerPoint you
are using because different versions have different features. Also,
since you mention Hypercard, I have a strange feeling you might be using
a Mac (in which case you want to ask your question at the Mac PowerPoint
group).

There are a couple of things you can do. I'm guessing the most like
solution for you is animation triggers. There are lots of tutorials for
this online. This is just one example:
