Is it possable to protect a document from being deleted by accident or on
purpose without a password on a non-network type computer?

I would suggest keeping the file on removeable media unless you are working
on the file.

Presumably you mean CD or DVD rather than flash drive or Zip or Jazz
disks.

If the file system for the volume (disk partition) in question were
NTFS, you could use file permissions to grant all users read access
but only admininstrators other permissions. If you want to prevent
yourself from deleting the file, this may not work if your own user ID
were in the Administrators group.

Only by preventing access to the computer by anyone. You can make it
difficult, not prevent it.

I'd put it on a flash drive and keep that with me if the document was that
critical. That way if *I* deleted it, I would only have myself to blame.
