Can I put a .PST file (including all emails) onto a disk?

I have a few .PST files that I no longer need in my folder list in Outlook,
but I don't want to delete the information entirely. Is there a way to copy
the emails from the .PST file onto a disk?

Yes, you certainly can:

Note that once a PST is burned to a disk or kept on a USB drive, you cannot
open it with Outlook. You must restore the PST to the local drive and remove
the read only attribute to open.

yes you can put the pst files to disk and if you need you can reopen
them
