Can I put a special character on the QAT?

I use the checkerboard character (x'46' in Webdings) for make certain
types of divider lines.

Is there a way that I can put that special characters from that font
on the quick access toolbar?

I've done that and then I can't remember what the shortcut was and I
end up turning on some horrible feature like track changes that I then
have to figure out how to turn off. And, yes, I've made little lists
on Post-Its that I lose or get out of date.

If I could see it on the QAT, even I couldn't screw it up.

What would be even better is a list of my favorite symbols with a
single icon to get at them all -- like the Insert | Symbols list that
keeps track of the last 20 or so, but there is no way to "pin" them so
they stay in the list.

Any way to do that?

Open the document and go to Method 2 starting on page 2.

You need to change the (French) character that I have used to the one
that you mention.

When you first posted this, I tried the download, but it froze IE and
Word. I think I had to kill IE using CAD.

I just tried it again and it did the same thing. It looks like it is
starting to load, then IE freezes up. I can't kill it without using
CAD.

I tried a couple other documents on that page. Some work OK, some
freeze IE.

I am running IE 7 with all updates installed.

If possible please rate my posting.

I don't know what that means or how to do it, which is a good thing,
since it doesn't work! ;-)
