can I remove Office 2000 after installing Office 2003?

Having recently installed Office 2003, I still have Office 2000 on my machine
taking up valuable drive space.
Can I remove 2000 without affecting 2003? If so, do I simply use WinXP's
"Remove software" function, or do I need to do it in another way?
Quick answers will be most gratefully received!
