Can I restrict renaming of a read-only file to another filename

Our company is distributing a CD with a Powerpoint presentation of
information and chemical structures. The file is read-only so if you open the
file and try to change the date and then SAVE the file, it will not change
the original data. However, if you change the data and then SAVE AS, and
rename the file, the original data is then corrupted and saved under a new
filename. Is there a way to restrict the file on the CD from being renamed?

The Read Only attribute is not a "file lock" feature. Rather, it is only
effective as a reminder to you that for some reason you didn't want to make a
change to the file. Don't try to use it to protect a file from the antics of
other users.

PowerPoint can password protect a file, but I would only recommend that if you
know that the file will always be opened in PowerPoint 2002 or 2003. It won't
open at all in PowerPoint 97, PowerPoint 2000, or either of the two PowerPoint
Viewers.

You might want to explore other possibilities discussed at:

? The 2003 Viewer will open and show password-protected files.

Ummm, once burned to the CD you can't change it's name or writer
modifications to it.
