If you closed the document without saving it, then there is nothing for Word
to retrieve.
I think there may be a possibility. I once lost important work like
this. I ran recovery software and found an erased but intact
auto-recovery file which was what I needed. Unfortunately it was a
long time ago and I can't recall the file type. (It would have been
with Word 2000.) But the size will be a good indicator. Recovery
software demos will help you look. You have to pay to recover.
