Can I save a sql statement generated by a search form?

I have a form which searches a table on criteria selected on the form. This works well, if I say so myself.
Now I want to run a report based on that same SQL generated by the form. In other words can the sql be saved as a query so I can refer to the query as the record source when I open the report?

What you want to do is definitely possible. I do it in some of my applications.
