Can I set up a template for a novel to my requirements?

I'd like a template with the option to display Book Title and Chapter Number
in the header, with Author Name and Page Number in the footer - with chapter
number and page number to update automatically.
As much as I try, I can't find a way to automate that process. I can get
parts of it, but not the way I want it. I have spent so long looking for
answers that the book isn't getting written.
There are templates for everything it seems, except writing a book/novel,
isn't it time that was put right?
I am using office/word 2003.
Help me and I'll give you a mention in the preface of my work!
How can you refuse? Easily?

Sorry, but all of that either means nothing to me or has already been tried -
and does not do what I require. I lost a day googling, and reading and trying
similar articles to these, and they don't work. They partly work, which is
the same as saying that they partly don't work.
Why not put what I want in a document, and let me download it?
That way I can see if it is what i want - AND that way I am sure you
understand the question, or not.

If you expect free tech support, you have to expect to do some of the work
yourself.

I would be prepared to do ALL the work myself, IF it were told to me in a
language I understood. If I must expect to do some of the work myself in
return for free tech support, surely I can expect the tech support to be
helpful rather than offhand? Or is the the first time you ever came across
someone lacking the skills you possess?
If I had to pay to get this done, I would do - but that option wasn't
offered.I'll tell you what to do, forget it I'll go elsewhere and you can
ride your high-horse into the sunset.
Have a nice life - not!

Such articles have all been written to clearly explain what may be
difficult, with screenshots to show the reader what to do. If you don't
understand the language, I'm afraid you are alone among the many hundreds or
thousands who have posted their thanks for these articles.

If you had posted specific questions about specific things you could not do
or what went wrong, without the attitude of entitlement, people here would
have been willing to help you through your misunderstandings and enable you
to translate general knowledge to your particular case. But it may be too
late now. There are certainly other resources out there--perhaps one of them
will fit your learning style better.

This is a group in which users of Word help each other--no one gets paid for
posting here. If you want to pay someone, I'm sure Google will turn up many
freelancers offering their services.

As Daiya has said, the purpose of these newsgroups is primarily to answer
questions about specific problems. More general information is contained in
the "survey" articles to which you were referred. Because the newsgroups are
text-only, and "a picture is worth a thousand words," Web articles
illustrated with screen shots and examples are really more helpful than
anything we can write here, not to mention that many of the articles
originated with text posted here over and over (literally FAQs).

If you want to learn how to use headers and footers (and sections, if
needed) in your specific document, then you need to learn something about
the way headers and footers (and sections) work generally, and I believe
that you can learn that from the referenced articles.
