Can I share a task for viewing (rather than assign it)?

A colleague of mine and I share a common task list and
each of us has full rights to view/edit/delete, etc., so I
know this can be done. Sorry that I can't tell you the
mechanics of getting it set up - this was handled by our
IT department.
